Where I work usually doesn't follow this traditional way to make paper. They rely on machines for most of their papermaking. But here at the Museum, I didn't use any machine for papermaking. Of course they helped me to beat kozo fiber by a beater...

It's true some people don't care if they rely on lots of modern technology in their everyday life. But not for my case. If I don't use my hands and arms and legs, I feel very negative to live my life. It's not something I can explain very well to you, but it's more from my instinct. I don't feel alive if I don't use my gut feelings which comes from my direct physical experience.

So I tell people I don't use computer at home. Well, you may think I would have to live a poor life, but even so, I need to live very close to my nature, my mountain, rivers, even this coldness. I feel I am alive.

Papermaking should be one of the way which help me to think I am alive.
