English and Chinese2014.10.15

photo01

It was this Monday that I had to translate both in Chinese and English at the same time...... ! My Chinese students were visiting here for our fall festival, and there was another visitor from US whose major is in composition and also felt interested in our traditional culture. They happened to be at Udatsu Museum together here, then Mr. Tamamura, an artisan of Udatsu, told me to come over and translate ...

Well, I did not so bad.

I remember in 1994 when I was traveling in China, I met an Australian couple at the train station. We were riging on a long way train, maybe for three days from Shanghai to Yun'nan. They needed my help some time. That was my first challenge to translate Chinese to English, English to Chinese. Now I don't have to use Japanese in between, but at that time it was a hard work to do. I felt my brain was trying to work so much like a machine..... Very new to me.

Well, I've been progressing in my talent to enjoy this life.
